- New Orleans’ Premier Horror Rock Act Follows Up Gothic Anthem with Romantic Catharsis
New Orleans’ premier gothic band, Deadsled Funeral Company, has unveiled their second independent release, “Boy Dahlia.” Ever loyal to their dark & debaucherous aesthetic, Deadsled’s new track features bold & intense themes of horror, romance, & morbidity. Just as can be said about the band’s debut single, “Dovehorns,” Deadsled’s latest release presents clear and heavy influences from brooding, hard-rocking, and experiential acts such as Type O Negative, Avenged Sevenfold, My Chemical Romance, HIM, and Ghost. However, “Boy Dahlia” is a far more personal and poignant piece lyrically than the band’s previous release. While “Dovehorns,” boasting lecherous & wildly gothic lyrical content, is an ostentatious, highly thematic introduction to the band as well as a thrilling anthem for all who have an affinity for decadence & the macabre, “Boy Dahlia” is a more humble & emotionally cathartic piece which tells a highly relatable tale of heartbreak and regret through the lens of horror. With a beautifully memorable chorus featuring richly layered vocal harmonies and heart-pounding bass groove all broken up by Deadsled’s signature upbeat guitar-and-drum oriented aggression, “Boy Dahlia” delivers a story of love and loss through an ironically high-energy, fun-loving yet distinctly gothic aural experience.
Those who bear witness to the new highlight of New Orleans’ gothic and alternative scene, Deadsled Funeral Company, on any given evening are in for a night of spooky, emotive crooning accompanied by melodic and mellifluous instrumentals interspersed with lighting guitar licks and sporadic percussion. The members - Boneghazi, Wraith Vanglorious, & Belmont Lugosi - deliver a taste of New Orleans gothic subculture and an intimate, lascivious, & rollicking interpretation of love and life after death.
Expose the beauty in all things macabre this summer with Deadsled Funeral Company, and experience your new romantic catharsis through the new single “Boy Dahlia” - OUT NOW.
